Los Angeles (CBS)  — The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in South Los Angeles that came at the end of a vehicle pursuit.

The shooting was reported at about 1 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1)  in the area of 107th Street and Western Avenue, said LAPD Public Information Officer Drake Madison, and the LAPD Metropolitan Division ended a vehicle pursuit in the area.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were summoned to the scene at 1:05 p.m. but were cleared without transporting any patients, said a Dispatch Supervisor.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision at 106th Street and Denker Avenue because it was in an unincorporated area of the county and reported a person from a vehicle involved in the crash went from the scene to 106th Street and Western Avenue because he was afraid of the people in the other vehicle.

There were no details immediately available on the conditions of those involved in the shooting. The Los Angeles Police Department tweeted just before 8 p.m. that a gun was recovered at the scene.

A large gathering of police near the scene of the shooting could be seen in photos posted to social media.
