SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) — Siloam Springs’ friendly deer, which has been affectionately named Doug, was at his new home Thursday (Sept. 6).

Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Spokesman Keith Stephens said Doug the deer was captured Wednesday night and has since been moved to a remote, undisclosed location.

Stephens said the AGFC does not want anyone attempting to relocate Doug back to Siloam Springs.

The deer has its own Facebook page with nearly 2,500 friends. He was usually spotted around John Brown University and was not afraid of taking photos with people who ran into him.

Although the deer appeared friendly, AGFC said the JBU campus is not its natural environment and semi-domestication could actually hurt Doug’s chances of survival.
