FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — New Arkansas voters have an extra day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 general election because of Columbus Day, which is considered a postal holiday.

The original voter registration deadline was Oct. 10, but because the United States Postal Service is closed the registration forms cannot be postmarked. That’s why Arkansas┬ácounty clerks pushed back the deadline to Oct. 11.
