(CBS) — Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval declared a State of Emergency for Washoe County after a fire burned 22 homes and 17 outbuildings near Washoe Valley.
The acreage of the fire has been reduced from 3,460 acres to 3,400 acres, with 20% containment.
More than 1,000 firefighters are battling to extinguish it.
The fire is burning west of Franktown Road, moving north toward Bowers Mansion and Joy Lake Road.
Officials say the wet weather has been very helpful for firefighting efforts and keeping the fire within the incident objective perimeter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
