FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Fayetteville police officers arrested a man Friday (Oct. 14) after liquor store clerks held him down when he tried to steal a bottle of vodka by putting it in his pants, according to arrest records.

Tony Isaias Martinez, 39, came into City Liquor on School Avenue before 8 p.m. when another customer in the store told a clerk he saw him steal a bottle of vodka, Martinez’s arrest report states.

The clerk confronted Martinez before he could leave the store, according to the report. Martinez pulled out the bottle and started waving it at him when another clerk at the store put Martinez in a headlock and brought him down to the floor, the report states.

While they were on the floor, Martinez pulled out a folding knife, but the clerks were able to take it away and hold him down until police arrived, according to the report.

Officers also found a syringe belonging to Martinez that tested positive for methamphetamine, the report states.

Martinez is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on suspicion of robbery, terroristic threatening and possession of drug paraphernalia, his jail records show. His bond was set at $10,000.
