FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Apparently leading the SEC in passing yards and passing touchdowns was enough to gain the attention of the Maxwell Award.

Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen was one of nine players added to the Maxwell Award watch list on Wednesday. The award is given to the best player in college football.

Allen has thrown for 18 touchdowns and is the only quarterback at the FBS level to throw for at least two touchdowns in seven games this season. Allen is 138-of-219 passing for 1,861 yards while tossing six interceptions.

Allen is also the first quarterback in school history with multiple touchdown passes in each of the team’s first seven games and the fourth to do so in the SEC since 2000.
