ROGERS (KFSM) -- A three acre plot of land near the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers will soon become the spot of the Fox Trail Distillery.

The Rogers Planning Commission gave Great Northwest Development the permit to build the distillery at its meeting on Tuesday (Oct. 18).

The project has yet to break ground, but holds much excitement for the growing area.

"This is the type of business that brings people in to make us a destination city, bringing us the tax dollars and bringing us the population growth," said Kevin Jensen, a planning commissioner.

Fox Trail Distillery is expected to produce whiskey while also housing an art gallery and a tasting area.

Raymond Burns, president of the Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce, said this will add diversity to the local brewery scene in the same area.

"Distilleries would be different and would be something that would attract some of our millennials to the area," Burn said. "It brings one more choice for people and we think it's one more thing to recruit people."

A timeline on when the distillery would break ground and eventually open are still unclear.

Jensen said the contractor is still working on plans that will go before the planning commission for approval.
