FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The U.S. Marshals Museum officials announced on Thursday (Oct. 27) that they have scheduled an opening date for the museum.
The museum is scheduled to open its doors on Sept. 24, 2019, according to a press release. The opening will coincide with the 230th anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Now the museum administrators will continue working to reach its $60-million funding goal. The 50,000 square foot museum will honor the importance and history of the U.S. Marshals Service.
“The Fort Smith community came together and brought this museum home,” said Patrick Weeks, president and CEO of the U.S. Marshals Museum. “The time is now to help us capitalize on our positive momentum and get this world-class project built.”
