WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) -- The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will open eight miles of Interstate 49 to six lanes Thursday night (Nov. 3).

Starting at 8 p.m. the completed inside lanes for northbound and southbound I-49 from Johnson Mill Boulevard to Wagon Wheel Road will be open to traffic.

Final work on median barriers and rails could require shoulder closures or overnight lanes closures to complete construction.

Two additional widening projects on I-49 are underway: Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers and Highway 62/102 to Highway 72.
