FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Fayetteville police identified the victim and suspect involved in a homicide investigation that started Sunday (Nov. 6).

Police arrested Jeremy Steven Borders, 41, of Fayetteville on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Police received a 911 open-line call just after 5:30 p.m. and could hear arguing in the background, Sgt. Craig Stout said.

When officers arrived in the area of Old Farmington Road and Green Point Terrace they found a male victim in the middle of the road, according to Stout. Police said the victim has been identified as Joe Bob Scarborough, 48, of Fayetteville.

Scarborough was found with multiple stab wounds, but the exact number is unclear, according to investigators.

Officers said they later located Borders at the scene. Borders had blood on him and officers noticed a blood trail that followed from Borders’ location to where Scarborough’s body was, according to police.

The victim’s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. Stout said the investigation is ongoing.
