ARKANSAS ( KFSM) -- Record numbers of people have already voted early in Arkansas, but there are still thousands of people who are waiting to vote on election day.
All counties are expecting long lines and while some of the polling location rules are common sense, others may not be.
"We are certainty are not banning cellphones at the polling place, but we ask that people not talk on the cellphone, especially while they are waiting in line," Washington County Election Coordinator Jennifer Price said. "It could be disturbing to the voters who are casting their ballots or waiting in line, especially if you are talking about who you are going to vote for."
Price said it could also hold up the line.
In Sebastian County, voters will see signs asking that phones be turned off. Election coordinators in Crawford and Benton Counties also prefer voters avoid talking on their phones.
While cellphones are not banned, campaign materials are not allowed within 100 feet of a polling place, which means voters will have to leave their candidate gear in the car.
"Even a t-shirt that would reference a political party, so for instance no 'I miss Bill' shirts or no 'Regan/Bush' shirts would be allowed at the polling place because those are reminiscent of a party and that would be electioneering," Price said.
All election coordinators in the area said children are allowed to watch their parents to vote because they are the next generation of voters.
In Arkansas polls open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
