FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A jury came back with a guilty verdict Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of a man who was accused of killing his girlfriend by running over with his car while she held her son.

Aaron Cutsinger was arrested in Sept. 2015 on suspicion of killing Leanora Rippy, 23, after the two-year-old child was found walking in the area of Observatory and Sugarloaf Roads.

Firefighters later found Rippy dead; she appeared to have been run over numerous times back and forth, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office. The child suffered only minor injuries.

The jury also found Cutsinger guilty of attempted murder of the child.

The jury will next deliberate his sentence.
