HACKETT (KFSM) — A residential fire in Hackett occurred Monday (Nov. 14) and is being investigated.

The fire happened between 5 – 6 a.m. in the 500 block of Highway 45.

Pam Harger, her husband and dog were asleep when it began. Harger said she woke up because of the smoke, but was able to escape unharmed. However, her husband was taken to a Fort Smith hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, but is recovering.

Traffic along the highway had to be redirected while crews worked to extinguish the fire, said Hackett Police Chief Darrell Spells, who was at the scene.

The Red Cross was also at the scene offering Harger assistance.

Spells also said the matter continues to be investigated.
