SALLISAW (KFSM) — The city of Sallisaw is having trouble with manganese in the city water levels, which is causing the water to have a green or yellow tint in part of the city.
Despite the discoloration, the water is safe for consumption, according to the city’s website. Water crews are working on adjusting the manganese at the city’s treatment plant.
Manganese, which is a mineral, can cause discolorations in water. This is typically an issue in spring or fall, as water temperature and lack of rain are contributing factors.
