It’s not easy to stay in shape around the holidays, because there are plenty of temptations that can derail your diet and workout routine.

Tyrell Jordan, a certified personal trainer at True Strength Fitness in the Fort Smith area, recommends you create an exercise plan before the holidays hit.

Jordan gave 5NEWS four strength building exercises to help ward off excess weight gain. They include:

  1. Squats with shoulder press
  2. Push-ups
  3. Lunge with a Russian twist
  4. Mountain climbers

Jordan demonstrated how to do each exercise.

“All the moves will help burn calories because they use multiple muscle groups,” said Jordan.

Jordan says to do each move 12 to 15 times and repeat that three times.  He also says you can ramp up the intensity of each move by holding weights if you find the moves too easy, or as you get stronger.

You should always consult with a physician before you attempt any type of new workout program.
