Charleston Duo Leads The Way To Perfect Season

Charleston football is taking an undefeated record (11-0) into the 3A quarterfinals.

CHARLESTON (KFSM)- Jackson Rowland had big shoes to fill being the successor to former Charleston and current Arkansas quarterback Ty Storey, but he has found his way in his senior season as the Tigers are off to an 11-0 start

"His maturation process as a quarterback," said Tiger's coach Greg Kendrick. "Being a young kid that struggled to find his niche trying to replace Ty Storey, he's really found his niche. Like I said of what it means to be a quarterback and lead a team I'm very proud of him."

Rowland never imagined, even in his younger years, that he would be where he is now.

"Being younger I never sat and thought I would be the starting quarterback," said Rowland. "Going into  the quarterfinals going to the state championship possibly, it's a really cool feeling..

Rowland has continued Charleston's tradition of having an explosive offense. The senior has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 31-touchdowns. With every quarterback, there’s a go to receiver and that is the speedy Sean Michael Flanagan. The junior leads the Tigers with more than a thousand all-purpose yards.

"He is probably is one of the best athletes that I have ever coached," said Kendrick. I think the only time he gets a break is on kick off. "

The dynamic duo cite their chemistry on the field to having played together since elementary school

"Me and jack are pretty good friends outside of school," said Flanagan. "We hang out and he likes to get the ball to me cause I catch his passes, he makes good throws, and we just have good chemistry there."Rowland, Flanagan, and the Tigers are aiming to keep their perfect season in tact as they host Centerpoint in the 3A quarterfinals Friday night
