FORT SMITH (KFSM) — One person is dead and a mother and her two children were injured following a collision that happened along Rogers Avenue Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24).

The collision happened about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Rogers and Albert Pike Avenues and slowed traffic for several hours because police ended up having to close one of the lanes.

Shreoshi Wright, 26, of Fort Smith died at Mercy Hospital after she struck another vehicle, according to Arkansas State Police.

A fatality report states Wright was traveling east, speeding along Rogers Avenue, lost control of her Honda Accord and spun sideways into a Honda Odyssey.

The driver of the Odyssey, Celia Gomez, 39, and her two young children, all of Fort Smith, were traveling west. They are all injured, according to police.

Gomez and one of the children were taken to Mercy Hospital where they were treated and released, said Sgt. Daniel Grubbs with Fort Smith Police Department.

Her other child was taken by Life Flight to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, according to police. Police said they’re waiting for an update from the hospital about the child.
