MULBERRY (KFSM) — A suspect is facing attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in Mulberry, according to police.

Luther Wayne Patterson, 41, of Mulberry faces felony attempted murder and misdemeanor public intoxication charges, said Mulberry Police Chief Shannon Gregory.

Patterson was arrested following an investigation and was booked Monday into the Crawford County Detention Center at 8:46 p.m. He remained in jail Tuesday without bond, a deputy said.

A nurse at Sparks Hospital called Mulberry police after a man, who lives in that town, arrived at the emergency room for treatment of a stab wound.  Not long after, he was taken by Life Flight to Washington Regional Medical Center where he remained Tuesday evening in critical, but stable condition, Gregory explained.

Police didn’t release the name of the man who was stabbed as of Tuesday.

“We are actively looking for next of kin,” Gregory said.

The stabbing happened shortly before the man went to the hospital for help. It happened Monday evening in the 100 block of Reynolds Street in Mulberry, Gregory said.
