FAYETTEVILLE(KFSM) -- The United States Postal Service is sending children personalized letters from Old St. Nick.

"We've partnered with Santa Clause to be able to get a response back to the kids, so we are the deliverers of those letters," Fayetteville Postmaster Charles Redburn said.

USPS started The Letters to Santa Program several years ago as a fun way to encourage children to practice writing letters.

"Of course we're always encouraging literacy and for kids to broaden their horizons on reading and writing," Redburn said.

Redburn said he remembers when his children wrote to Santa.

"At least one of them, even though she's quite a bit older now, probably still has her letters," he said.

The deadline to get a letter to Santa is Dec. 15. For more information, click here.
