FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Employees at Mercy Hospital are celebrating Christmas during a tree lighting event ceremony Thursday (Dec. 1), and everyone is invited.

The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the main lobby of Mercy Orthopedic Hospital, 3601 S. 79th St.

The Trinity Choir will perform while those who attend enjoy cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider, as well as converse with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Also, a collection box will be near the tree for anyone to donate hats and gloves to those in need.

Another tree lighting ceremony happened Tuesday (Nov. 29) at the main lobby of the hospital. The Immaculate Conception Choir performed, and the event also featured a live Nativity with camels.

A collection box is also near the tree in the main lobby. The collection boxes will be set up until Dec. 16 .

For every item donated, gift cards will be given to the River Valley Regional Food Bank by hospital employees.
