STIGLER, OKLAHOMA (KFSM) -- For families who have children with autism, the holiday season can be a little overwhelming. However, one group is trying to change that.

The Sensitive Santa event is planned by the Pervasive Parenting Center to give children a chance to see Santa without the lines or lights, which frequently make it difficult for children on the autism spectrum or with sensory issues.

"(The families) don't have to be judged if their child has a meltdown or has something go wrong," said Kodey Toney, event organizer.

Toney's son has autism, and he set up the program eight years ago after experiencing difficulties visiting Santa.

Instead of waiting in plain lines while waiting to visit Santa, the children get to play with iPads. This helps the children, as well as parents, relax.
