VAN BUREN (KFSM) — A woman is safe even though her van caught fire, Tuesday (Dec. 6).
Christy Watson of Van Buren was traveling alone along Interstate 40 near exit 5, the exit for Fayetteville Road, and thought something was going terribly wrong with her van, her husband Troy Watson, explained.
"She felt like the transmission was slipping because the RPM's went really high," Troy Watson added.
While speaking on the phone with her husband, the van began to smoke, and so she pulled off the interstate and got out of the car.
Moments later, flames blazed from the front part of the van.
Christy Watson wasn't injured.
Witnesses told the couple flames were bellowing from the van while some type of liquid dripped from underneath. It's thought the liquid was transmission fluid.
