VAN BUREN (KFSM) — A parolee is facing additional felonies in connection with stealing Christmas packages from several homes.

Mark Anthony Hyatt, 46, is facing one count of theft by receiving and parole violation, said Detective Jonathan Wear of the Van Buren Police Department.

Hyatt was subsequently arrested Wednesday (Dec. 7) after an investigation that lasted nearly one month after several residents reported UPS, USPS and FEDEX packages stolen, according to police.

One person saw the truck Hyatt was allegedly driving, and reported the description to police. The day of his arrest, detectives saw that same truck with a package in the back. They initiated a traffic stop and found the package was stolen.

Detectives also searched Hyatt’s home because he is on parole. Additional stolen property was found, according to police.

Anyone who has had a package stolen and hasn’t reported the crime is encouraged to call Det. Jonathan Wear at 471-5095.
