FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)— A man is facing felony charges after he allegedly attempted to disguise himself in a clown mask and threatened others with a machete during a robbery.

Latrell Devontae Richmond, 21, of Springdale was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary, theft of property and misdemeanor third-degree battery.

Shortly after 3 a.m. Monday (Dec. 12), police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of North Oakland Avenue regarding a residential burglary.

A man reported four men including Richmond forced their way into his apartment, according to police.

According to the Washington County Detention Center, Richmond was the only one arrested as of Monday evening. He was being held without bond.

The man also told police Richmond — who wore a clown mask during most of the reported robbery and who was also wielding a machete — as well as another one of the suspects attacked him, a police report states. He sustained a bruised eye.

He told police owed money was the motive, and that one of the men was upset about $150 owed for a mattress.

Before leaving the scene, the suspects reportedly stole a $500 laptop.

Witnesses who were in the apartment during the alleged robbery told police a similar story as what the man reported.  One witness told police that Richmond held the machete against her chest, and another told officers Richmond removed the clown mask at one point.

They also recognized the clown mask from prior encounters with Richmond, according to police.

The other two suspects were not involved in the attack, the report states.

A witness told police the suspects were last seen in a red car with Arkansas license plate 668 UML, the report states.
