FORT SMITH (KFSM) — George Washington is bringing his friend Thomas Jefferson to Fort Smith for the second annual U.S. Marshals Museum ‘An Evening with George Washington’ Monday night (Dec. 12).
Special guest George Washington and Thomas Jefferson will give people a history lesson and share their differing opinions on the federal government.
“It’s a great way to learn about civic literacy and American democracy in society,” said Vice President of Development Alice Alt. “Thomas Jefferson and George Washington didn’t always see eye-to-eye on political ventures. To hear them talk about policing our society through the marshals service, and how they did that together as bi-partisans is intriguing,” Alt added.
Guests can also enjoy carriage rides, 18th Century dance lessons and an 18th Century inspired menu by River City Bistro.
While in town, the two historical figures will also visit students at Fort Smith Public Schools.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bonneville House Monday, located at 318 North 7th Street in the Belle Grove Historic District.
Tickets can be purchased for $75 by clicking here.
Proceeds will go to the Fort Smith Public School Foundation for grant purposes to assist teachers with National History Day, a program that the U.S. Marshals Museum has had the chance to bring back into our public school system.
