BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- The Bentonville Kiwanis Club has been handing out food baskets to people in need on Christmas Eve for more than 60 years.

As Kiwanis Club members ready themselves for another holiday, they're also preparing to do the annual 'Guy Wilkerson' Food Basket Giveaway at a new location. This year, families will need to come to the Food Warehouse, which is located at 606 Southwest A Street in downtown Bentonville.

Families who are in need of a basket simply need to show up to the warehouse starting at 8 a.m. on Dec. 24. There are no qualifications that need to be met to get a basket.

"There's no sign up, there's no asking questions," said Bobby Smittle, Kiwanis president. "We want to know how big your family is -- we'll give you a box with more food in it. Just come. If you know someone in need, come and pick up a box."

The baskets usually have chicken, potatoes, canned foods, bread and desserts -- everything necessary for a holiday dinner.

About 500 baskets will be given away by the club on Christmas Eve.

Anyone who would like to donate to the food basket program can drop off donations at the warehouse at 606 Southwest A Street between now and Christmas Eve.
