ROGERS (KFSM) — A man who works for the Springdale School District as a bus driver was arrested Thursday (Dec. 15) on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault.

William Alan Custodio, 63, was arrested after an investigation was launched this past September when a Rogers school counselor reported a student had told her she was sexually assaulted by Custodio, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The girl said Custodio had sexually assaulted her numerous times since 2014, the affidavit states.

Springdale spokesman Rick Schaeffer confirmed Custodio has been employed by the school district since 2014. Currently, he is still employed as the district gathers information about the accusations against him. Schaeffer said he couldn’t comment further on a personnel matter.

Schaeffer said the school district hires its own bus drivers, who all undergo a background check.

Custodio is currently being held at the Benton County Detention Center awaiting bond.
