TAMPA (KFSM)- The Clemson Tigers made an improbable comeback in the final minutes of Monday’s game to take down undefeated Alabama 35-31. For Clemson, the victory marks their first national title since 1981.

The win was sealed in the final minutes of the game when Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow with just one second remaining to win the game. In Watson’s final game, he completed 36-of-56 passes for 420 yards and three scores. Clemson finished the season 14-1 overall, while previously undefeated Alabama dropped to 14-1.

Alabama led throughout the contest, until the fourth quarter. The lead changed three times in the fourth quarter, but it came to who got the ball last and that was Clemson. Watson and the Tigers were able to avenge their 45-40 loss to Alabama in the national title game last year. In the two games against Alabama, Watson was impeccable in both throwing for a combined total of  825 yards and eight touchdowns.
