SUMMERS (KFSM) -- Fire crews responded to a grass fire Wednesday (Jan. 11) in western Washington County.

The Farmington Fire Department confirmed crews were out along Highway 244 in the Summers area just west of Lake Wedington.

Dry weather and heavy wind helped spread the fire through 80 acres of land and roughly 40 acres of wood.

Six crews from surrounding cities responded to help tame the flames. The fire was contained around 5 p.m.

The fire didn't threaten any homes, but there were some livestock in danger. Farmers in the area moved their livestock further from the blaze as a precautionary measure.
