MOUNTAINBURG (KFSM) — Mountainburg police officers were involved in a pursuit with a suspect on Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 31).

Mountainburg police received multiple calls of a reckless driver on Hwy. 71 allegedly running cars off of the road. The police department identified the suspect as George Spillers.

A Crawford County Deputy was talking with one victim in the City Hall parking lot when Spillers allegedly drove toward them at a high rate of speed, almost striking them with his vehicle. According to the department, Spillers fled the scene.

His residence on Lake Fort Smith Road was checked and the nearby elementary school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Spillers was located and arrested at his attorneys office in Ozark. He is being charged with terroristic threatening, aggravated assault and felony fleeing.

Officers from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, U.S. Forestry Service, Mulberry P.D., Ozark P.D. and the Franklin County S.O. assisted in the search.
