ARKANSAS (KFSM) — North Interstate 49 at the Bobby Hopper Tunnel is now open, according to Arkansas State Police Troop L’s public information officer.
Early Sunday (June 4) afternoon heavy rainfall and multiple accidents forced the closure of the Interstate on the north side near the tunnel according to Arkansas State Police Troop L.
There were three separate traffic accident shortly before 1 p.m.
All the accidents happened as motorists exited the tunnel and hydroplaned on the wet roadway during a period of heavy rain.
The three crashes only caused property damage and no injuries were reported, said a Troop L spokesperson.
The Interstate was reopened at 2:32 p.m.
