BETHEL HEIGHTS (KFSM) — A child was hit by a car while riding a bicycle in Bethel Heights on Wednesday (June 7), according to a Benton County deputy.

The child has been transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Joseph Myron Earhart, 28, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, said Cpl. Chasity Mahan. He is also facing charges of battery and refusal to submit to BAC test.

Mahan said the child was coherent and responsive on scene, and did not suffer any major injuries. The bike was beneath the vehicle.
