ROGERS (KFSM) -- Crews were on the scene Thursday (June 15) at an apartment complex that caught fire near 7th and Poplar Street in Rogers.

According to dispatch, firefighters evacuated residents from 7th Street Apartments after a second story unit went up in flames. The tenants of the unit said if it wasn't for their smoke detector they may not have known their home was on fire.

The complex's landlord told 5NEWS he believes the apartment unit is a total loss. Residents surrounding the unit that caught fire also suffered damage.

Firefighters said no one was injured, but two pet cats died of smoke inhalation. The Red Cross was also on the scene to provide water to the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
