Razorbacks Crumble On The Road Against South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC (KFSM)– Arkansas traveled to South Carolina looking to pick up their first SEC win of the season, but the Gamecocks powered past the Hogs winning 48-22 . The Razorbacks drop to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

South Carolina’s defense took advantage of Arkansas’ offensive mistakes, scoring three defensive touchdowns in just the second half. South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley went 16-of-31 for 199 yards and three touchdowns, while Austin Allen finished 12-for-24 for 84 yards and one touchdown.

Arkansas was going toe-to-toe with South Carolina in the first half tying the game at 10. But, with less than a minute left until halftime Jake Bentley completed a pass to Bryan Edwards in the end zone to give the Gamecocks a 17-10 lead heading into the locker room.

In the second half the Hogs started to unravel. South Carolina’s defense started to beat down Arkansas and Austin Allen. Gamecocks’ Skai Moore intercepted  Allen’s pass, returning it 34-yards for a pick six to put them in  front 27-10. The Razorbacks attempted to recover, but instead  followed with a 73-yard scoop and score fumble recovery for a touchdown by T.J. Brunson.

Former Gamecock David Williams finally got the Hogs on the board in the second half, running  it in from four yards out to make it 41-16 before a failed two-point conversion. South Carolina responded with another interception, Keisean Nixon sealed the deal with 45-yard pick six to increase the lead to 48-16.

Competition only gets harder for the Razorbacks, Next week they will face No. 1 ranked Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday, October 14th.
