PEA RIDGE (KFSM) -- A woman was hospitalized early this morning after she struck a deer along Arkansas 72, according to Arkansas State Police.

"I don't know how she made it through that ditch. That bar ditch is about 15 feet deep." said Chantz McCready. Her car sped through his yard knocking down his fence, after work he followed the tire tracks picking up handfuls of debris along the way.

Co-workers identified the woman as Anna Beth Julius. When she didn't show for work they called her husband a Pea Ridge Firefighter. He pinged her cell phone location and found her nearly half a mile from the hwy with severe injuries.

Anna was taken to a local hospital and later flown to a hospital in Missouri due to her injuries, police said. She is in stable condition in the ICU. She has a broken nose and broken orbital bone, and she will likely have to have surgery to repair those bones. She is expected to recover, but it could take some time.

Her condition isn't known at this time.

The woman hit the deer about 7:38 a.m. Tuesday morning on Arkansas 72 near Center Point Contractors. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled about 1,000 feet on to farm land, police said.
