CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) -- A suspect accused of killing a man and burning his home has been found guilty of five charges.

A jury found Jeremy Brake guilty Friday (March 9) of second-degree murder, arson, tampering with physical evidence, using a firearm during the commission of a crime and endangering the welfare of a minor.

He was sentenced to 43 years in prison on the various charges. Some charges will run concurrently with Brake expected to serve 17 years. He will be eligible for parole in less than five.

Prosecutors said Brake shot and killed Mike King inside a mobile home during October 2016. Prosecutors accused Brake of burning down the mobile home.

"He did not do that. He is not who everyone is saying that he is," his daughter Harley Brake said.

King was shot in the stomach, but prosecutors claim the gun has yet to be found.

King's daughter Kasey King said, "Michael King was a good man who made bad choices. He had the biggest heart, and would help anyone who needed him. He loved his kids and his grand kids... my dad was strong... I will never hear his laugh or get a big bear hug when I feel like my world's falling apart... .

Linda King who is Mike King's sister said, "I don't wish more time for him or a horrible time, I just wish he could learn something from this because the people that truly have to pay for all of this is his family, (and) my family, and it will keep going until they can learn the greater lesson in life."
