BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — A teen was taken to the hospital Friday (March 16) morning after he was struck by a Benton County Sheriff's Office deputy.
Deputy Dustin Carlton struck a 14-year-old boy while driving near the intersection of Northeast I Street. The teen was taken to Northwest Medical Center. Police aren't commenting on his current condition.
The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. Bentonville police said the boy ran into the street and was struck by the deputy's vehicle after he turned onto Northeast Second Street from J Street.
Witnesses reported seeing the teen run in front of the deputy's vehicle and Bentonville police say a preliminary investigation "does not show (Carlton) with any contributing factors" in the accident.
Carlton isn't on administrative leave, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office declined to comment on specifics about the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
