SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) -- One man was in critical condition Wednesday (June 13) after being injured in a shooting in Siloam Springs on Tuesday (June 12) night.

Capt. Derek Spicer of the Siloam Springs Police Department said the shooting took place at the Remington Park apartment complex on North Britt Street about 10:54 p.m. The shooting took place outside, not in an apartment, Spicer said.

A man was injured, Chance Cooper, 18, with a gunshot wound to the hand and abdomen, Spicer said. He is in critical but stable condition.

Neighbor Tim Cole said the victim was walking along the sidewalk by the apartment complex when someone shot at him. He said the victim ran around the metal fence in front of the complex, then collapsed on the grass.

Cole said he heard six gunshots, then saw the victim lying on the ground. He said he helped turn the victim on his side and tried to keep him calm.

"He was conscious, but he wasn't talking consciously," said Cole. "He was just kind of moving around and in a lot of pain. We were just getting him to stick with us to try to keep him sane and not freak out."

Spicer said that investigators are looking for three possible suspects. One person of interest is a man, but further descriptions were not available. They did say they were looking for a red Honda.

One side of North Britt Street was shut down early Wednesday morning as the active crime scene was being worked. Police used metal detectors and K9s to scour the scene. Detectives were seen talking with neighbors in the complex.

The victim's family has been notified.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Siloam Springs Police Department at (479) 524-4118.
