    Arkoma, Okla.,- Arkoma Fire Department along with the Pocola Fire Department worked for over an hour to put out a house fire in Arkoma.     Four Dogs Killed, House Destroyed in Fire

    ARKOMA (KFSM) – Crews worked for over two hours fighting flames that engulfed a house and three cars in Arkoma. The Arkoma Fire Department, Pocola Fire Department, and OG&E Electric all were on scene. Crews said they were worried about the flames reaching power lines and the electricity inside the house.     FORT SMITH (KFSM)-  One man is dead and another man is hospitalized after a shooting Saturday night (Sept. 27), according to police. The family said it was Chris Morris who was killed during a fight at his home. Authorities on Monday (Sept. 28) said they were searching for three juvenile males considered to be suspects in the incident.   • Skateboarders Raise Money To Fight Crohn’s Disease

    FORT SMITH (KFSM) –  Local skateboarders competed in an event this weekend to help raise money to fight Crohn’s disease. The event was held at the Chaffee Crossing Lookout Trails on Sunday (Aug. 31). The competition was open to skaters of all ages, styles and skill levels.  It featured live vendors, door prizes and food for all those in attendance. Proceeds from the event benefit Stubbs Freeman, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

    Fort Smith, Ark.- The Fort Smith Museum of History helped visitors celebrate what is known as the last weekend of summer. The museum held its Annual Ice Cream Social.  The event is held on the Sunday before Labor Day each year. Attendees paid $5 and were able to build their own sundaes from a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings.  The event also acts as a fundraiser for the museum.     (Fort Smith, Ark.)- A two vehicle accident is slowing traffic in the Fort Smith area near Grand Avenue and 32nd Street. The Fort Smith Police Department, Fire Department and EMS are helping with the accident.     (Pocola, Okla.) – The Pocola Police Department responded to a car accident on Highway 112 this morning. Police report the call came in around 2:50 a.m.  Pocola Police Chief Steve Howard said a Dodge Caravan drifted into oncoming traffic causing a near head on collision with a Chevolet Blazer.     Inmate Is Captured After Escaping From Work-Release Program In Springdale

    SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Authorities caught a prison inmate they said escaped from a work release program Friday night (Aug. 16) in Springdale. Clayton Shatswell, 30, walked away around 8:50 p.m. from the location he was working at for the Arkansas Department of Correction, according to the prison agency.     Off-Duty Deputy Involved In Fort Smith Shooting Identified

    FORT SMITH (KFSM) – An off-duty sheriff’s deputy who killed a man in Fort Smith on Saturday (Aug. 9) during a shootout has been identified, authorities say. The deputy was identified as Joshua Heidelberg, according to a news release.     Street Closures in Bentonville Next Week

    The Bentonville Street Department annouced Thursday (Aug.7) the city of would face some road closures due to utility construction. The department said Northeast A St. from Northeast 7th to Park will be closed to through traffic.  The area will be closed from Monday August 11 at 9 a.m to Wednesday August 13 at 5 p.m. Officials said weather or unforeseen circumstances could cause delays in work or rescheduling of the utility constuction.

    The water system in Winslow, Ark., has issued a boil order due to a water main being struck by lightning today (Aug. 9).
