Bobby joined the 5NEWS team in 2012 and dove right into the sports scene. He comes to us after spending more than eight years covering Arkansas sports for various print editions.

Bobby is a graduate of both Roland High School and the University of Central Arkansas. He acquired a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in television and was also a member of the Bears football team.

Not everyone gets to do what they love for a living but Bobby is doing just that, reporting on sports.

If he’s not doing “research” at an area sporting event, Bobby can be found at a local golf course or being a professional man of leisure.

  • Lavaca Keeps Playoffs Hopes Alive With Win Over Mansfield

    Luke Brown is wrapping up the regular season with Lavaca on his back. The Arrows duel threat weapon both rushed for a caught a touchdown as Lavaca posted a 24-21 win over Mansfield. Lavaca sits in a tie for fourth place in the 3A-4, with Danville, at 3-3. The top five teams from the conference qualify for the postseason.  

  • Alma Batters Van Buren In ‘Battle Of The Bone’

    Alma has been on their fair share of close losses this season but Doug Loughridge made sure the annual rivalry game with Van Buren wasn’t another. The Airedales jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a Landon Brigance touchdown run and then they ran away with a 36-7 win.

  • West Fork Washes Out Green Forest

    Green Forest might have taken an early 7-0 lead but West Fork had no issues making that lead vanish. The Tigers outscored Green Forest 40-8 from that point to post a 40-15 win to stay undefeated in the 3A-1.

  • Shiloh Christian Clips Gravette

    Adler Goode from Connor Reece. It’s a combination that haunts most teams and Gravette was no exception. The Shiloh Christian duo hooked up for an early 45-yard score and the Saints never looked back as they posted a 39-14 win. Shiloh Christian travels to Pea Ridge in the regular season finale with the 4A-1 title on the line. Both teams are a perfect 6-0 in league play.

  • Northside Holds Off Har-Ber

    Another week, another win for Northside. The Grizzlies continued to roll as they posted a 29-20 win against Har-Ber to set up an enormous ‘Battle of Rogers Avenue’ next week. Southside will host Northside next week as both teams, along with Bentonville and Fayetteville, are 5-1 in the 7A-West.

  • Southside Slams Springdale

    Something has gotten into the Southside offense. For the second straight week the Rebels put up 30 or more points on a Springdale score, this time posting a 36-3 win over Springdale High. Clay Tyler’s 26-yard touchdown pass to Evan Simpson put Southside up 16-3 then he added an 11-yard scoring run to blow the game open. Southside will host Northside next week. Both teams, along with Bentonville and Fayetteville, are 5-1 in the 7A-West.

  • Fayetteville Runs Past Rogers

    Fayetteville has been on a roll since their loss in week four and now they have a chance to claim a piece of the 7A-West title. The Bulldogs picked up their fifth straight win as they handled Rogers 45-7. Fayetteville travels to Bentonville next week. Both teams, along with Northside and Southside, are 5-1 in the conference.

  • Bentonville Wears Out War Eagles

    If there was a team that’s peaking at the right time it could be the Bentonville Tigers. Bentonville got big plays from both their offense and their defense as they pounded Heritage 42-10. Brandon Atchison returned an interception 65-yards for a score the Dylan Smith scored from 25 yards out for the Tigers’ offense as they quickly jumped out to the 14-0 lead.

  • Greenland Shuts Out Elkins

    Greenland kept their chances of a 3A-1 championship alive as they jumped out to an early lead on Elkins and ran away with a 24-0 win. Alex Sizemore gave the Pirates an 18-0 lead with touchdown run and that was more than enough cushion for the Greenland defense.
