  • Freezing Fog, Slick Spots Cause Wednesday Traffic Slowdowns

    Weather Alert: Several slick spots remain across northwest Arkansas and some rural roads.  Freezing Fog is also present in some parts of the area and is expected to cause traffic slowdowns during morning commutes and low visibility.     Springdale Police are searching for victims who may be connected to a recent theft spree in the Har-Ber Meadows area. Authorities arrested Cassius Gladden, 25, of Springdale  Tuesday after a 911 caller told police he caught a man walking into the garage of a home on Tall Oaks Loop early that morning.  The caller told police the man then left the scene in a gray Honda passenger car with a rag covering the license plate.     With many Black Friday deals starting early Thanksgiving it was a bit of a challenge to find a true Black Friday sale. However, both Academy and Cabela’s in Rogers actually chose to wait until Friday for sales, opening up at 5 a.m. Friday. Customers lined up as early as 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning to ensure they were first in line for a chance at winning some great doorbuster prizes from the stores.  

  • Power Outage Disrupts Thanksgiving Meal For Some

    Parts of the River Valley were left without power for a short time around noon on Thanksgiving Day. Nearly 1,600 residents in Rye Hill, along with 140 more in Beverly, were left without power at a time many families were preparing their Thanksgiving meals or sitting down to eat. All of those affected were Arkansas Valley Electric customers. Power was restored around 12:30 p.m. Officials said they did not immediately know caused the outage.
