The 11th annual Soup Sunday benefits the organization Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families took place at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.

Chefs from 25 restaurants in the region spice it up with 30 soups from curry, tomato basil, clam chowder, chicken enchilada and much more.

There are also bread and desserts to benefit and families here in Northwest Arkansas.

The money raised will help the organization continue its work and sustain its office, which opened in Springdale in 2008.

Their focus is to ensure low income kids succeed in life.

"We fight for funding for Pre-K programs, we helped to create the health insurance program that the majority of children have, which is ARKIDS First. It's those kinds of public policy decisions that we push the legislature and governor to make on behalf of the kids in Arkansas that need it most," said Laura Kellams, Northwest Arkansas Director for Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.

Last year they raised about $45,000 and Soup Sunday 2012 expects to make much more.
