Homeowner Shoots Suspected Burglar

A Fayetteville homeowner shot an alleged burglar Monday afternoon, according to police.

The incident happened at a residence in the 4100 block of Old Missouri. The homeowner told police that a man was breaking into his home with a knife so he shot him.

Sgt. Craig Stout says the suspect was shot in the abdomen multiple times. The suspect’s cousin took him to Willow Creek Women’s Hospital. The suspect was stabilized and taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, according to Sgt. Stout. His current condition is unknown.

Sgt. Stout says the homeowner and the suspect know each other and may have been involved in an argument the night before.
