The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man found dead in a house fire in Bentonville Monday morning.

Firefighters found the body of Larry D. Cox, Sr., 64, dead inside a residence located at 12771 Galyean Stables Road around 11:17 a.m. on March 12. Cox is believed to be the homeowner, according to Captain Mike Sydoriak.

The sheriff’s office criminal investigations division, along with the Lowell Fire Department, is investigating the cause of the fire, which is still unknown.

Firefighters from Hiwassee, Gravette, and Centerton responded to the scene.

Cox’s wife, Lou, is a teacher with Northwest Arkansas Head Start, according to a family friend. A “Lou Cox Benefit Fund” has been set up at Bancorp South where donations can be made.
