Couple Accused of Tricking Shopper Out of Wallet

Fort Smith police are searching for a black couple accused of tricking an old woman and stealing her wallet.

The theft happened at the Walmart on Rogers Avenue around 6 p.m. on March 14, according to police.

The 74-year-old victim told officers she was approached by a black man claiming to be a diabetic needing help reading the contents of a juice label. While she helped the man, a black woman took the wallet from the victim’s purse.

Investigators are trying to identify the couple pictured. Both are believed to be between the ages of 35 and 45. The suspects are believed to have left the area in a white, late model four door passenger car, possibly a Nissan Altima.
