In addition to the flash flooding risk in our area, we will also be at risk for severe storms including tornadoes. This map shows the most favorable environment for tornadoes on Monday evening. The bullseye shows us where the greatest shear and instability is located within the atmosphere and it also indicated the most likely location for tornadoes to develop.
Southeast Oklahoma and Western Arkansas are at greatest risk. We expect storms to be developing in this area late evening into the overnight hours. Additional severe storms will be possible on Tuesday but the risk of tornado should be lower.
Storms are expected to be underway by 5pm with the threat shifting to flash flooding overnight and into Tuesday.
