Washington County Fire Marshal Dennis Ledbetter is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a building and several vehicles near Elkins Tuesday morning.
Elkins Fire Chief JD Demotte says they were called to a fire on McCord Road south of Elkins around 8:30 a.m. When they got there they found a combination shop and barn building on fire as well as seven or eight vehicles and the nearby woods on fire.
The chief says after they got the fire in the woods put out, firefighters worked on the cars and building.
He says they had to use foam to put out the burning cars and had things under control in about half an hour. Crews from Elkins, Nob Hill and Goshen fought the fire.
