Bosco’s Blast Lifts Hogs past Georgia, 8-3

The Diamond Hogs use their 1st grand slam in over a year to break out of a batting slump.

The Diamond Hogs snapped a four game losing streak behind Jimmy Bosco’s third inning grand slam that turned a 2-1 Georgia lead into a 5-2 Arkansas advantage. Senior shortstop Tim Carver had a pair of hits and two RBI to pad the Razorbacks’ lead.

Sophomore Brandon Moore (3-0) got the win by going 3.1 innings in relief of starter Barrett Astin. Moore held the Bulldogs to a single run on four hits with a strikeout.

Arkansas improved to 23-7 on the season with the win and 6-5 in SEC play. Georgia fell to 19-12 and 5-6 in league play.

The Hogs broke out of a batting slump collecting 13 hits in the game.

Georgia starter Michael Palazzone (0-4) was tagged with the loss allowing five runs on six hits in four innings of work.

Astin gave up just two unearned runs on three hits and struck out five in 4.2 innings of work. Colby Suggs finished out the game for the Razorbacks striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Razorbacks will try to win the series Sunday at 12:05 p.m. behind veteran hurler B.J. Baxendale ( RHP) (5-1, 5.23)  who will go up against rookie (RHP) Pete Nagel (0-0, 3.41).
