Naturals End Four-Game Skid

The Naturals get their first 2012 win at home courtesy of some timely hitting.

SPRINGDALE, AR -A solo home run by Christian Colon in the bottom of the sixth broke a 7-7 tie and Northwest Arkansas went on to record its first win of the season at Arvest Ballpark, 9-7 over Corpus Christi.

The victory snapped a four-game losing streak by the Naturals.

Will Meyers had a big night at the plate extending his season opening hitting streak to nine games with four hits and five RBI. His eighth inning RBI single completed the scoring in the game.

Naturals starter Justin Marks gave up all seven of the Hooks runs lasting just four innings. He did not factor in the decision. Reliever Kendal Voltz got the win tossing three hitless innings for Northwest Arkansas. Blane Henry earned a save blanking the Hooks in the eighth and ninth innings.

The Hooks took the three-game series two games to one.

With the win Northwest Arkansas moved to 3-6 on the season, tied for third in the Texas League North a full three games back of first place Tulsa.

The Naturals host San Antonio in a three-game series starting Sunday at 2 p.m.. Right-hander Tim Melville (0-0, 0.00) takes the hill for the Naturals opposite right-hander Robbie Erlin (0-0, 3.38).
