The eastbound lane of Interstate 40 in Van Buren was shut down late Tuesday night, after a two-semi crash, according to Arkansas State Police.

Troopers say a semi rolled over after hitting another semi while merging onto the eastbound lane of I-40, near the I-540 interchange at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Troopers asked drivers to avoid the area and suggested using Highway 64 as a detour while they worked to clean-up debris from the accident.

The driver of the rolled over truck was taken to an area hospital. Troopers say the injured truck driver had severe cuts to his arm, but did not know the full extent of his injuries.

Crawford County dispatchers tell 5NEWS the driver was trapped inside his rig, before being rescued.

Arkansas State Police kept a portion of the highway closed Wednesday morning while highway crews inspected the supports overpass where the accident occurred to ensure no debris caused damage to it.

Both lanes were reopened by 4:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
